Crystal Brooks is living proof that pain can be transformed into purpose. She is a woman who has walked through fire and come out shining, and now she is committed to helping other women reclaim their voices, rebuild their confidence, and embrace the power of self-love.
Born in Washington, D.C. and raised in Landover, Maryland, Crystal grew up in a home that looked perfect on the outside but was filled with hidden pain. At just five years old, she was molested by a family member, and throughout her childhood she endured physical and emotional abuse at the hands of her father, who struggled with addiction. She learned early to wear a smile and bury the truth, carrying her strength like armor.
That same strength carried her into adulthood. At 20, Crystal married and started a family, determined to create a safer life than the one she had known. But within her marriage, she faced new challenges—her husband battled untreated depression and bipolar disorder, and Crystal once again carried the weight of trying to “fix” someone else while holding her family together. Over time, she lost herself in the process. She was strong for everyone else but crumbling inside.
In 2012, Crystal had a moment of truth. She realized she had become a shadow of the woman she wanted her daughters to look up to. In choosing herself, she broke free. By 2013, she was divorced, standing at a crossroads between the life she had endured and the life she wanted to create. She chose healing. She chose self-love. She chose to rise.
That choice changed everything. Crystal spent the next years rebuilding her life from the inside out. She discovered that self-preservation is not selfish but the foundation of true love and empowerment. And as she healed, she opened herself to new possibilities—building a blended family rooted in compassion and support, experiencing a love that allowed her to thrive without shrinking, and welcoming her son in 2018 as a symbol of her new beginning.
From victim to victor, from silence to voice, from surviving to leading—Crystal’s journey is one of resilience and rebirth. Out of her story came her purpose. She founded Love You More, Inc.®, a nonprofit dedicated to empowering women and girls to heal, grow, and thrive. Through mentorship, empowerment programs, and community support, she equips women to break cycles, embrace their worth, and walk boldly into the future they deserve.
Crystal’s story is more than survival—it’s a testament that no matter where you begin, you have the power to rewrite your ending. She believes that when women choose to love themselves, they unleash a ripple effect of healing, confidence, and strength that transforms not only their own lives, but generations to come.
"Just wanted to say I’m so glad I came with my nieces. Today’s presenters gave powerful messages that were awesome. And I also want to say Thank You. From your story, you’re able to start this program to help our young girls. It’s not east to put our hurts and pains in the public. But you have turned them into a mission of love"
